Aces Up Solitaire — questions & answers

How do you play Aces Up solitaire?

Deal four cards at a time across four piles. Whenever two pile-tops share a suit, discard the lower one (Aces are high, so they’re never discarded). Move a pile-top onto an empty pile to free the card beneath it. Win when only the four Aces remain.

Are Aces high or low in Aces Up?

High. Because an Ace outranks every other card of its suit, it’s never the lower card in a matching pair — so it can never be discarded. That’s exactly why the four Aces are what’s left standing when you win.

Is Aces Up hard to win?

It’s largely luck-driven and won less often than Klondike, but smart use of the empty piles — freeing a buried high card at the right moment so a matching low card can be discarded — noticeably improves your odds.
